So, in Wyeast 3787 pt 1 I mentioned that this yeast is very active…
Here’s a shot of my head and some serious kreusen.
And here’s a short time-lapse photography video of some yeast being pushed out of the fermenter by an active fermentation. – Generally, light is BAD for beer. UV rays can alter the hop [...]

So the Bitter is now gone, thanks to friday night’s party at boz’s. But it was delicious. The second Keg more so, as Boz dry Hopped that with an ounce of E.Kent Goldings. Next time, we need a few more IBUs to balance the malt.
One of the good things about the Brewday was that we [...]

My plambic has a bit of a scum on top. Look.
Well, it looks better in person.. but you can see the oil slick-ish layer on the top can’t you?

I have cracked a BW, and there was a bit of a psst, but the beer is flat. It’s possible that the US56 yeast is totally tuckered out after 2 months, most of which spent in a highly toxic.. 11% alcohol solution. I might wait for a week or two.. and try one, but I [...]

“(Semi-) Unemployment” Brown Ale
18 lbs Pale Malt
1 lb Crystal 60L
1 lb Chocolate
2 lbs Munich Malt
Mashed at 150, 152F for 60 minutes.. Unknowingly woke up a sick Justin with some impromtu Hillbilly music at about 30 minutes of the mash. Why is the MashTun on the Glass table? You’ll have to ask Boz. As for the [...]

“This chart shows the amount of money that is spent by a household that consumes two quality 12 ounce
beers per day. As you can see, all grain brewing has the highest startup cost, but in less than 6 months,
that cost is recovered.”
This is for an “automasher” – temp device for your stovetop brewing.. the [...]

OK. A word of WARNING to everyone. One handful of Chamomile into 3 gallons of beer is a lot! One week later, it’s mellowing out. It seemed like a good Idea. I think one handful in 10 or 15 gallons would be better. I WAS “inspired” and “thinking Belgian” but it came out 100% [...]
