Some weekday in early November I mashed 30 lb of Pale, Aromatic and Cara-Pils malt – while Boz and Kent Brewed some regular [...]

Bourbon Barrel Imperial Stout

« 4 December 2006 | 15:59 | brewing | No Comments »

WOW!
This might be the best beer I have ever made.

Just start SMACKIN’ YOUR LIPS! -
Photos from the transfer of stout into the barrel.

The stout, 53 gallons total has aged very nicely in the barrel for about 9 weeks. The beer is now in kegs waiting to be bottled this week. The stout is not [...]

a view of the crowd at the Stroke Foundation’s Okto-beerfest
BOZ and I represented Aksarben Brewing Co. at the Stroke Foundation- Oktobeerfest and it was a riot. We almost ran out of beer, and we brought 9 gallons of kegged beer, 12 22oz bottles of a pale ale, and a 6pk of the stout that didn’t [...]

SOMETIMES YOU’VE GOT TO HEAD-BANG!!

PALE MALT, TABLE SUGAR, AND 4 HANDFULLS OF COLUMBUS PELLETS!
note: My (not-so) new pump, and fancy brass quick-connectsNet – 6 gallons of 1.078 wort.2.5 +2.5 gallons of H20- for a 1.038-ish pale ale with US56 dry yeast.. ends up nice light and HOPPY, but too dry [...]

Hoegaarden 16 oz DRAFT

« 4 December 2006 | 14:18 | beer reviews | No Comments »

Very light straw – with an appropriate haze for the style.
aroma had a slight corriander..and spicy phenolics from the yeast strain.
Taste was light and refeshing  – proof that most american witbier brewers do
not practice restraint with thee spices – (myself included)

Arrogant Bastard – ! –

Arrogant Bastard – 20oz Draft – Drop off Service – NYC
Delicious… my first time with the bastard. Hop aroma with a touch of malt. – Deep red color when held up to the candle on the table. Otherwise it looked brownish.
The taste had a fruity/floral hop flavor– with a great malt backing it up.
a few [...]

Well, Let me tell you all about why I have a free moment to update my little blog!
I let my hatchback fall on the corner of my little Marshall 2×12 cabinet, – just like this and the window busted….
shattered all over the place! —- well??
Now I have a few minutes and 300+less [...]
